Founder of The Shell Hair, Shelly Bulchandani, Entered Shark Tank India Season 3 to introduce her Designing Artificial Hair products under The Shell Hair brand to the sharks.
She says that her company is transforming the design of hair extension products, a 2000 Cr industry, to be simplified for those who need to make style in a few minutes like Instagram reels.
Easy-to-Understand Results
She started her company because she spent months trying to solve a Quick Hair Extension that is ready for going to parties with design hairstyles. Ultimately, she had to take a lot of design, which ultimately cost her a lot of time and money.
Ultimately, she was left with unexpected hair extension design costs and results that she didn’t understand. This is when she determined to create a better way.
The average hair extension product costs between Rs. 2500 and Rs. 3000. Shelly expressed to the sharks that it was generally more convenient, and affordable for customers to purchase hair extensions from her website, rather than buy other expensive products.
The Shell hair has more than Rs. 1.2 Cr in product sales with a 35% Margin and continues to have a 30% growth rate every single month. Further, she expects to hit Rs. 3.6 Cr. in gross revenue and product sales shortly.
When Ritesh Aggarwal asked about the financial data of Shelly’s business, Shelly told about her business’s financial data:-
- Fy 2022-23 Sales: 36 Lakhs
- Sales Distribution: 82% Sell from Website, 8% from Amazon, and 10% from Exibition.
- The Shell Hair Website’s Monthly Traffic is 20k
- Monthly Add to Cart: 1.3k
- Conversion: 140 only, i.e. 0.7%
With an optimistic projection for the next calendar year, Shelly believes her company could eventually reach 3.6 Cr. in gross sales.
However, Namita Thapar believes it will take too much money, and there will be too much competition. For these reasons, he is out.
Likewise, Amit is concerned that the company will require constant re-development. She also thinks it will take too much money, so she is out next.
Anupam is frustrated with the low quality of hair extensions, and although this could be a solution, He gave an offer based on a good founder 30laksh for 3% Equity.
Ritesh Agarwal made the offer to Shelly because Ritesh believes that Shelly can become a better company.
However, as other sharks pointed out, he says it will take several million dollars to succeed, so he is offering 60 Lakhs for 6% Equity.
Amit Gupta decided to make an offer of 30 Lakhs for 5% equity, however, the deal includes a contingency. The money offered for valuation is 3 Cr.
Shelly thinks about making a counteroffer for 3% equity.
Between 30 Lakhs to 60 Lakhs Investment offer available, But Shelly goes with Aman Gupta’s Offer i.e. 30 Lakhs for 3% Equity because She is interested in learning online business, marketing, and many more. So Shelly accepted the lowest offer of 30 lakhs for 3% Equity.
